Senior Coordinator

Job Description 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Effective coordination and management of the student support services and finance division in order to deliver an exceptional (excellent)
  • Render a friendly client service to funders, students, parents, lecturers, Dean, Deputy Deans and the Faculty Manager
  • Management of the Student Services Centre
  • Facilitate student bursaries, loans and disbursements
  • Allocation of funds to funded students
  • Draw and submit management reports to funders and the university for audit purposes
  • Coordinate meetings with Department of Basic Education for allocations of bursaries
  • Liaise with Student Administration, the Finance Department and other stakeholders within the University.
  • Monitor the progress of funded students in line with the rules of the funder(s)
  • Ensure that recipients of bursaries are compliant

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • Funds Management
    • Client Services
    • Accounting/Financial Administrational relevant three Bachelor’s degree or a relevant BTech degree with at least of 4 years university experience of which 3 years should be in the following:

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):

  • Knowledge of the policies and regulations of the University
  • Knowledge of the National Credit Act (NCA)
  • Knowledge of the Funza Lushaka Bursary programme, NSFAS and other bursary schemes policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of Campus Solution and other external funders software applications
  • Knowledge of fee structures, student accounts and bursary allocations
  • Knowledge of generating financial reports
  • The ability to effectively work under pressure;
  • Computer literacy with a broad knowledge of and experience in the use of MS Office packages, online Platforms
  • The ability to work independently but to also function effectively within a team
  • Deadline driven, a high level of accuracy and the ability to maintain confidentiality
  • An ability to communicate with stakeholders at all levels
  • Deadline-driven

ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:

  • 5 years’ experience in Student Support Services in a tertiary environment
  • 5 years’ experience supervisory including delegated authority
  • 3 years’ experience extensive knowledge of in student bursaries, loans and disbursements

PLEASE NOTE: All shortlisted candidates may be required to participate in relevant skills assessments as part of the selection process.

The annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbent’s level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines. UP subscribes to the BESTMED and UMVUZO medical aid schemes and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
