Human Resources – Summer Student

Job Description 

Our AGS Oshawa team is looking for an HR Administrator to meet the challenges of an established manufacturing operation, as well as new product launches. The right candidate is an individual who is keen to learn and grow in our dynamic environment. JOB SUMMARY

As a member of the AGS Oshawa Human Resources team, you will perform various Human Resources administrative functions specializing in some and providing support in others.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists with the day-to-day operations, which includes daily calls, absences, verifying Dr’s notes, vacations, leave of absences and discipline reports, monitoring & recording unionized employee attendance tracking, preparing reports and information for discussion.
  • Assists with the preparation and set-up of various professional development events, which includes the tracking of professional development in the learning management system and other special projects as required.
  • Coordinates and participates in career fairs.
  • Assists with the generation of various analytics reports and HR metrics.
  • Supports positive employee and labour relations by providing advice and guidance to employees.
  • Assist with employee relations issues by investigating questions and/or concerns.
  • Supports the new employee Human Resources orientation training.
  • Supports the publication of the Employee Newsletter in the plant.
  • Assist with General HR Administration with daily requirements. including but not limited to generating reports and forms, generating and posting notices in the plant, assist with distribution of mail, administer invoices for the HR department.
  • Asist with the maintenance of employee records and HR filing systems, monitor retention of documentation and disposition, records and tracks disciplinary actions for hourly employees.
  • Assist the HR Manager, Human Resources Generalist and Human Resources & Health and Safety Coordinator in the administration of medical claims (S&A, LTD, WSIB), early and safety return to work program, as well as manage and administer employee leaves of absence.
  • Perform any other duties that may be superficially or generally assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Business Administration or Human Resources student or equivalent
  • Strong willingness to learn.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to plan, organize work and time efficiently and re-prioritize and respond to changing demands/focus.
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of various computer programs such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook).
  • Attention to detail and excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Approachable, positive, enthusiastic and solutions oriented.
