IT Applications Analyst

Notes:

  • This role is supported by a remote work arrangement across Canada.
  • This is a 1 year contract opportunity in a growing IT team.
  • Working hours must maintain an 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM Eastern Time Zone schedule to facilitate business needs. A 30-minute variance in hours can be facilitated.

What will you be doing in this role?

  • Liaise between technology and the business, focusing on continuous improvement
  • Work with Financial Horizons’ (FH) I.T. vendors ensuring that deliverables meet the business unit’s expectations through the systems development life cycle
  • Acquire solid technical and business knowledge relating to applications and business groups within FH
  • Keep abreast of technical innovations and advancements to aid in the advancement of the company’s application platforms
  • Application Deployment and Management: Deploy and administer corporate applications to support the requirements of the business
  • Data Management, Mapping and Migration: Provide data management, mapping and migration services to support the business requirements
  • Report Creation and Management: Provide report writing and management of the data warehouse and application reporting environments
  • User Support/Helpdesk: Create and maintain application documentation for both the Infrastructure and IT Support teams
  • Provide support for advanced application issues
  • I.T. Governance: Provide input for I.T. policies and procedures (including Information Security policies) that aligns with the enterprise risk management strategy in consultation with management and staff both within and outside the department
  • Technology Tools: Assist with the deployment and management of various tools to support IT and business operations

What should your experience and qualifications look like?

  • 3+ years of IT application deployment and management experience in a Windows server and desktop environment
  • 3+ years of database management experience (Microsoft SQL, MySQL, Snowflake)
  • 3+ years of business intelligence tools experience (Power BI)
  • Experience deploying and managing websites (both internal and external)
  • Experience with SaaS applications knowledge of the financial services / insurance industry
  • Experience with insurance agency management systems
  • Experience in IT due diligence, divisional and organizational integration relating to operations and IT
  • Fluency in French and English would be an asset only

Professional/Technical Certification or Licenses:

  • MCSA Microsoft SQL Server or equivalent experience MCSE Data Platform, an asset
  • MCSE Business Intelligence, an asset
  • A post-secondary degree in Computer Science or related work experience
  • Industry courses would be an asset
