Job Description 

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Quantitative or Technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 years of experience working with databases, and querying (e.g., SQL, MySQL, MapReduce, Hadoop).
  • Experience in statical concepts (e.g., sampling, margin of error, bias, and variance).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in statistics, math, physics, economics, or other quantitative disciplines.
  • Experience with checking in and peer reviewing code.
  • Ability to build data structures and investigative processes.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and work cross-functionally.
  • Ability to create insights from data presenting clear recommendations.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

Trust & Safety team members are tasked with identifying and taking on the biggest problems that challenge the safety and integrity of our products. They use technical know-how, excellent problem-solving skills, user insights, and proactive communication to protect users and our partners from abuse across Google products like Search, Maps, Gmail, and Google Ads. In the Trust and Safety Scaled Operations Quality, our goal is to set the standard for quality assurance in the trust and safety industry. Trust and Safety’s extended workforce of manual reviewers is the largest in the fraud, spam, abuse, and content moderation industry, establishing trusted and proven quality assurance standards for the work of our extended workforce is critical, as incorrect decisions made by manual reviewers can have significant implications on users and/or on machine learning models which consume the labels produced in the manual review process.

A diverse team of Analysts, Policy Specialists, Engineers, and Program Managers, we work to reduce risk and fight abuse across all of Google’s products, protecting our users, advertisers, and publishers across the globe in over 40 languages.

Responsibilities

  • Design sampling and data infrastructure for scalability. Influence how data is structured and stored, to enable fast and seamless insights generation across one of the industry’s largest extended workforce.
  • Design and build the metrics and monitoring tools to detect any quality-related issues. Own quality metrics definitions and ensure these are statistically sound and methodologically consistent and develop sampling strategies.
  • Perform causal analyses, quantify impact of corrective actions implemented, understand the relationship between quality and other business metrics.
  • Leverage modeling and machine learning techniques to develop and maintain a portfolio of models to identify reviewer errors.
