Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated entry-level UX Designer looking to gain experience working on exciting, highly interesting and smart digital products, and assist in the execution of research, concepting, prototyping, and executing UX features and functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research and help build a clear understanding of who will use our software products and define what specific ‘jobs’ users might choose our products to help them solve
  • Embrace and promote UX design principles and support Ocean in successfully implementing them
  • Assist in the design and delivery of personas, wireframes, workflows / user journeys and interfaces using Ocean toolsets and templates
  • Partner closely with Product, UX/UI design and the engineering squads to deliver new functions and capability
  • Contribute to ensuring product usability and accessibility
  • Involve users/customers in the design and validation process throughout the entire software development lifecycle
  • Contribute to the interaction design process – creating and refining component pattern libraries (design systems) to ensure high quality UX as well as application consistency and production efficiency
  • Engage with developers to help ensure the detail, spirit and intent of UX design is retained throughout the build, test and deployment phases

Key requirements for the role:

  • Relevant tertiary level design degree or equivalent
  • Be able to provide supporting portfolio of design work with clear explanation of personal contribution to included projects
  • 1-2+ years of professional experience including 1+ years of specific experience as a User-Experience practitioner working on software applications in an agile working environment
  • Ability to work collaboratively within teams and show initiative
  • Web and software application design experience
  • Beginning to form sound User research and User Testing techniques
  • Working knowledge of Design Systems
  • Sound communication skills and stakeholder management
  • Experience with Material UI
  • Experience with Figma and key toolsets
  • Australian Citizen and able to obtain Australian Defence Security Clearance
