A renowned player in the Australian snack food industry, is seeking adept and driven Maintenance Electricians to bolster their Smithfield team. This role presents the chance to join the team on either permanent day or night shifts, with a maximum of four working days per week. The company offers competitive compensation packages, including attractive rates, loadings, and allowances, along with opportunities for overtime.

The successful candidates will become an integral part of the Smithfield team, contributing to the seamless functioning of the electrical systems crucial for production. Responsibilities encompass diagnosing, maintaining, and enhancing electrical systems to minimize downtime and optimize production efficiency, all under the guidance of the Electrical Supervisor and Operations team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulating and executing productivity enhancement projects to reduce downtime and elevate operational efficiency of electrical systems.
  • Ensuring scheduled electrical preventive maintenance and system checks are executed in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Tackling diagnostic and repair work to swiftly address breakdowns.
  • Extending diagnostic and troubleshooting support to PLC systems, particularly Allen Bradley.
  • Maintaining compliance with workplace health and safety (WHS) and quality standards for all electrical equipment and installations.
  • Updating essential electrical, engineering, and site documentation.
  • Participating in plant preparation for planned maintenance shutdowns.
  • Ensuring readiness of plant and site equipment for production start-up.
  • Methodically documenting preventive and corrective actions in the CMMS (Computer Maintenance Management System) – MEX.

Desired Qualifications and Traits:

  • Possession of a recognized Australian Electrical Trade Qualification.
  • A minimum of five years’ practical experience in an industrial setting, with a preference for backgrounds in food manufacturing or other FMCG sectors.
  • Proficiency in PLC-based control systems and networking, with experience in Allen Bradley systems considered advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills and a knack for relationship-building to keep all stakeholders informed.
  • A decisive and accountable approach to decision-making.

  • Dedication to adhering to Quality and Health & Safety standards.
  • A strong eagerness to learn and evolve professionally.
