Account Manager

Australia Post is delivering like never before. We are delivering into our government clients at a phenomenal rate and looking for a permanent hire as a government account manager within our government south sales team. Managing a portfolio of 65-70 customers including government departments, authorities, government adjacent businesses and charities. You will be responsible for the retention and growth of a circa $40 million portfolio.

Within this role you will get high level interaction with government stakeholders and work internally to ensure that we put the needs of the customer first and deliver positive citizen outcomes from our work.

About the opportunity

As the point of accountability for your portfolio of clients, you will be responsible for the sales, service and reporting for the customers. You will have end to end ownership of the accounts, including NPS, revenue and the delivery of contracted services.

What you’ll deliver with us

You will take a strategic approach to account and service planning for your portfolio and you will be accountable for building senior relationships, retaining existing revenue and driving sustainable growth. You will have access to Australia Post’s army of subject matter experts to support your decision making and support your interaction with the customer. From leading product and insights teams to sustainability focused pricing teams and a service centre focused entirely on the customer. You will be a point of accountability with the backing of a business that is solely focused on delighting our customers, supporting each other and building a sustainable business for the future.

You will have access to leaders who are supportive and growth focused, who place the objective of their team members’ success above all else. They will help with focus areas, ideas and assist with the governance gateways both within clients and internally.

You’ll also

  • Develop meaningful, long term customer relationships with government stakeholders to protect existing revenue streams and maximise growth within those streams.
  • Make introductions to Australia Post’s service offering to decision makers within clients who are not already users of our service.
  • Manage the key account relationships by leading regularly planned sales and service calls with Senior Executives.
  • Carry out quarterly business reviews and key retention activities through the full lifecycle of the contract.
  • Identifying cross sell opportunities.
  • Delighting our customers by delivering a seamless customer experience by coordinating engagement and interaction between the customer and our internal specialists across service, sales, solution design, product and implementation.

About you

You will be a motivated and experienced account manager within government clients who is driven to achieve long term and who values service excellence as a commercial driver. You will be used to long term sales cycles, working internally to ensure the best deal for the customer is signed off and have experience negotiating with government clients and carrying out in detail bid preparations.

You’ll also need

  • Experience successfully negotiating complex contracts, ideally with government or governance heavy clients.
  • A focus on growth of revenue, growth of accounts and service excellence.
  • Demonstrated understanding of facilitating operational service outcomes alongside commercial objectives.
