Accounting Analyst

Job Description 

Kinsale Insurance is hiring an Accounting Analyst to join our finance team in Richmond, VA. Our Accounting Analyst will work with all outstanding Kinsale accounts receivable premium balances. Kinsale is an Excess & Surplus lines insurer specializing in hard-to-place, small to medium sized commercial accounts. Kinsale is eligible in all states and writes a variety of Property, Casualty and Specialty lines through fifteen underwriting divisions.

Responsibilities

  • Follow up on all Kinsale past due balances with broker accounting contacts within expected timelines
  • Independently assess and execute appropriate collection tools required for each past due receivable balance
  • Release NOCs as appropriate for all assigned Kinsale accounts
  • Refer to appropriate Underwriting Assistant for cancellation processing and earned premium invoicing
  • Invoice and follow up on assigned Kinsale audit and other premium balances returned for or proactively taken back for direct collection
  • Independently negotiate payment terms for both brokerage-billed and directly pursued balances to ensure timely cash receipt
  • Cash application of Kinsale directly collected audit and assigned brokerage premium payments
  • Prepare all return premium check requests for manager approval and accounting processing.
  • Communicate differences between deposited transactions and resulting premium allocations to accounting staff for accurate ledger entry
  • Research and resolve all payment differences with required internal and external contacts
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in Accounting or Finance-related field required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or Finance-related field preferred
  • Two to five years of accounts receivable experience required
  • Two to five years of related insurance experience strongly preferred
  • High degree of accuracy and efficiency in data entry
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with initiative and ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and Outlook
