Job Description 

Qualifications and General Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in an accounting role (leadership role advantageous).
  • Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for finding solutions.
  • Detail-oriented and eager to learn.
  • Proactive and self-motivated.
  • Willingness to conduct research to address accounting issues and present effective solutions.
  • SARS and accounting software (PASTEL) experience is a must.
  • Proven experience as an Accountant.
  • Proficient in computer and internet usage, with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • National Senior Certificate.
  • NQF 7 accredited tertiary qualification in accounting.
  • Own reliable transport.
  • Clear criminal record.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of VAT returns.
  • Filing income tax returns (PAYE, VAT, Income Tax) and preparing supporting documents for submission to SARS.
  • Capturing accounting transactions on Pastel.
  • COIDA registration and submission of ROE.
  • Handling PAYE/UIF.
  • Preparation of payroll.
  • Maintaining records and receipts for all daily transactions.
  • Making journal entries for all financial transactions.
  • Filing source documents for recorded journal entries.
  • Posting journal entries to ledger accounts.
  • Preparing trial balances.
  • Performing bank reconciliations.
  • Preparing cash flow statements.
  • Ensuring financial records are kept up to date.
  • Contributing to financial audits.
  • Monitoring all bank deposits and payments.
  • Preparation of financial statements.
  • Development of a business plan and financial projections.
  • Creating invoices and emailing them to clients.
  • Receiving inbound calls and redirecting them to relevant personnel.
  • Data capturing.
  • Performing other general administrative tasks.

Education and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (Required)
  • 3 years of FMCG accounting experience (Required)
  • SAICA member registration (Preferred)
